The Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHS) is the most recent complete scholarly edition of the Hebrew Bible, based on the Leningrad Codex. It contains all significant text variants as well as proposals for corrections in the critical apparatus.
The Biblia Hebraica Quinta (BHQ) is the successor to the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHS). A central goal of this edition is the comprehensive documentation and evaluation of all existing textual variants of the Hebrew Bible. To this end, an international and interdenominational team of scholars is undertaking a thorough revision of the Hebrew Masoretic Text as preserved in the Codex Leningradensis and other ancient textual witnesses. The complete edition will consist of twenty individual volumes, roughly half of which have already been published. When completed, BHQ will be a one-volume edition accompanied by a one-volume text critical commentary that provides information and discussion beyond that contained in the apparatus of the text volume. These are the main features of the edition:
The Septuagint edition by Alfred Rahlfs has been an important basis of worldwide Septuagint research ever since it was first published in 1935. This edition was revised by the internationally renowned Septuagint researcher Robert Hanhart in 2006; in the course of this work, the text and apparatus were corrected and extended in well over a thousand instances.
This edition presents the reconstructed Latin text of the Bible, accompanied by a comprehensive critical apparatus of textual variants.
Since its first publication in 1898, the Novum Testamentum Graece has served as an outstanding edition for all who study the text of the New Testament.
Often referred to as the UBS edition—because of its close association with the United Bible Societies (UBS)—The Greek New Testament is used worldwide as a basis for Bible translation. It offers a reliable Greek text, identical to that of the Nestle-Aland, and enables readers to engage with the textual tradition at selected key points.
The Editio Critica Maior (ECM) is the most comprehensive and methodologically advanced critical edition of the Greek New Testament to date.
