The Greek New Testament (GNT / UBS)

The Greek New Testament (GNT / UBS)

Often referred to as the UBS edition—because of its close association with the United Bible Societies (UBS)—The Greek New Testament is used worldwide as a basis for Bible translation. It offers a reliable Greek text, identical to that of the Nestle-Aland, and enables readers to engage with the textual tradition at selected key points.

In comparison with its sister edition, the Nestle-Aland, The Greek New Testament is considerably more accessible and easier to use. Its textual apparatus focuses on those passages where the variants are especially significant for translation and interpretation. At these locations, the variants and their supporting evidence are presented in greater detail and with a clearer layout than in the Nestle-Aland.

Because of its clarity and practicality, this edition is particularly well suited for those beginning to study New Testament textual criticism and is therefore also widely used in teaching—especially in the English-speaking world.
