Biblia Hebraica Quinta (BHQ), Publications
The Biblia Hebraica Quinta (BHQ) is the new critical edition of the Hebrew Bible, succeeding Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia. It features a revised critical apparatus based on the Leningrad Codex (L), extensive documentation of textual variants from ancient manuscripts and versions (e.g., Dead Sea Scrolls, Samaritan Pentateuch, Septuagint), and comprehensive Masorah notes (Masorah Magna and Parva). Each volume includes an accompanying commentary explaining textual decisions and variant evaluations. BHQ provides scholars with a precise, transparent, and philologically informed reconstruction of the Hebrew Bible’s textual history.
The complete edition will consist of twenty individual volumes, roughly half of which have already been published.
